"A diverse year for a new facility in Norwalk"
Norwalk, CT by Chris Bosak
It’s been quite a first year for the Sono Field House.
The indoor sports facility in South Norwalk has played host to political fundraisers (including one with Bill Clinton), corporate galas, sports clinics with some of America’s top athletes, and thousands of children who have honed their sports skills.
“We’re pleased with where we are after a year and we’re working to get better and improve the value to the community,” Jim Quinn of owner Q Properties said. “A positive surprise is that it’s really a positive for Fairfield County. We feel fortunate that there hasn’t been any negative surprises.”

"Norwalk Kids Keep Climbing for the Top "
NORWALK by Tom Renner
Nine-year-old Francesa watched as her sister, T'Keyha, 6, climbed the rock wall Monday at the Breakthrough Options For Families holiday party at the Sono Field House. "I'm going to go higher than her,'' Francesca said as she watched her sister make it halfway up the wall.
When Francesca's time came, the fourth-grader at Side by Side Community School worked her way up the 30-foot wall. One careful step at a time, she navigated her way to reach a candy cane placed at the top. "I was nervous and scared that I was going to fall,'' Francesca said. "I was proud that I made it to the top for the first time. I was also thinking about my sister. I wanted to tell her that she did a good job and maybe that when she's my age she'll be able to reach the top of the wall."
Children ages 14-and-under from nearly 20 families associated with Breakthrough Options celebrated the holidays at the event. The agency helps improve the quality of life for single parents and their kids. Sono Field House allowed families and children to climb the rock wall as well as run, kick and throw on its athletic fields. It also provided food and entertainment. Adventure Area Director Jessica Clow helped organize the event.

Located in South Norwalk, the Field House offers membership for just $49 a year for an individual or $150 for a family. Members can then pay extra for sessions to hone their skills in their respective sports.

Jim Quinn, CEO and Founder of Q properties, is the man behind the Sono Field House. Quinn, a father of three, wanted to provide athletes, kids, corporations, and people of all ages a first-class sports and events facility. South Norwalk is the perfect spot for a field house of such caliber because of its accessibility and there are no others like it in the area. Most parents whose children are involved with sports have to drive up to an hour or more for training and practice, but with the Sono Field House that will no longer be necessary.
