"Field house offers indoor facilities for athletes"

For athletes, it is important to prepare year-round in anticipation for a season. However, training and conditioning are hampered by the cold and snow during the winter months. A solution has come in the form of the Sono Field House, an indoor facility with full-size fields on which players can practice lacrosse, soccer, football, and field hockey.

Located in South Norwalk, the Field House offers membership for just $49 a year for an individual or $150 for a family. Members can then pay extra for sessions to hone their skills in their respective sports.

There’s nothing like this in the area,” sophomore Jimmy Quinn said.

"Women's Lacrosse Clinic Raises More than $3,500 for Haiti"

New Haven

After the recent earthquake in Haiti, the Yale women's lacrosse team made a last-minute change to the free lacrosse clinic they had scheduled for Jan. 24: it would also serve as a fundraiser.

With less than a week to get the word out, the team still had a remarkable response.

They wound up raising $3,502 for the American Red Cross' relief efforts while also helping teach the game to the local youth lacrosse community.

Coach Lisa Lindley welcomed the players to the exhibition in which original plans to "mix and match" old and young gave way to alumni versus varsity game.

on to act as a resource to staff and athletes regarding proper sports nutrition. A Registered Dietitian for

programs and one on one counseling.

"It was a lot of hard work and long hours we put in," Jim Quinn, owner, said. "It feels great to be open, but now the focus is on operations and keeping things moving smoothly. We felt Norwalk is very centrally located within Fairfield County and this was the perfect spot for this."

It’s almost game time as the Sono Field House comes within a month of being completed.  And it promises to be more than sports and event facility, according to its owner.

“We saw that there was a great demand for a facility for youth sports and high school sports in the area,” said James Quinn, CEO and founder of Sono Field House. Quinn, president of Q Properties of Norwalk and a father, found himself having to drive an hour-plus to bring his children to decent sporting facilities.  “When you have children who are involved in sports and you’re sitting on 95 or the Merritt, it’s the wrong time of day and there’s bumper-to-bumper traffic you think why,” Quinn said.

Build it and they will come. That's the philosophy driving the construction of the Sono Field House. With a projected opening in October, the new "field of dreams" is a 52,000 square foot facility, designed to attract athletes, teams and corporations from throughout Fairfield County who seek team building activities.

Built by Q Properties and staffed by 50-75 full and part-time employees, the arena will serve as an indoor training facility for a number of sports including lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, indoor football—even rock climbing.

The Sono Field House sports facility has named Wave veteran coach Jeff Brameier as its Lacrosse Director, the organization announced today.

As Lacrosse Director the many-times-champion DHS coach will manage “all facets of lacrosse programming for the field house, including clinics, leagues, tournaments and camps,” the SFH press release stated

The Sono Field House is steaming toward completion. Soon soccer balls, footballs, and lacrosse balls will be flying around at the South Norwalk indoor sports facility.

The owner of the 52,000 square foot facility, which will also include activities such as indoor rock-climbing and ropes courses, hopes to be open to the public this fall. Sono Field House is located at 350 Ely Ave.

"The vision is to have the region's most comprehensive indoor sport and recreation facility," said Jim Quinn, president of Q Properties, which is building the project.

Quinn said the field house will employ between 50 and 75 full- and part-time employees.
