Dutch Total SOCCER INSTRUCTION

Dutch Total Soccer (DTS) is a soccer training organization led by outstanding professional trainers from the Netherlands. DTS focuses on high quality training, available for soccer players of all levels. DTS trainers are graduates of the C.I.O.S. Academy, a 4-year sports college, or the KNVB Academy (Royal Dutch Football Federation) and all have a UEFA B license or higher. The real difference in the DTS training lies in the methodology that the Dutch are world renowned for; all training sessions are segmented and made level appropriate. DTS trainers are not merely soccer coaches, but true teachers of the game.

DTS has been operating in New Jersey since 2001 with great success and now has come to Connecticut to expand and share the DTS training methods with even more athletes. The partnership with Sono Field House combines a world class facility with world class training.

DTS will offer summer camps, school holiday camps, classes, clinics, team training, private training and much more. If you are interested in finding out more, or would like to schedule an introductory session with one of the trainers please contact: Lennaert Bitter at  .

DTS Skill Clinics Description

Join the DTS Team and improve your skills during one of 4 Skills Clinics offered for beginner to advanced training!

Academy

Is your child interested in club soccer but not sure how and where to start?
Soccer Centers will teach your child the necessary skills that will help them to
improve as a Soccer player. Players will develop the skills needed in a
competitive game. This class will focus on dribbling, moves and will play small
sides games and much more.

What is taught in this Class:

During the 60 minute class the curriculum will take the players through the
technical aspects of Soccer; Straight dribbling, zig-zag dribbling, speed
dribbling as well as all different moves like back moves, side moves and passing
moves. All these topics will be enforced to the players to let them be in charge
of the ball and to let the player decide what to do with the ball. Instead of
the player chasing the ball after hitting it. This class really focuses on How
to do it; how to dribble, how to use a Cruyff Turn, etc. All Skills will be
developed and trained during FUN Soccer games. Studies has shown that children
of the age 5 and 6 will learn faster and better when playing in game
situations.

Who should do this Class:

When your child is introduced to the game of Soccer because of an earlier
class or Recreation Soccer and he or she is not challenged enough at the moment.
This class will be a great next step, it will increase the confidence of the
child. All skills developed during the class will be taken to their Recreation
games or scrimmage in their Township. It will take them a step ahead of the
competition. All players of the age of 5 and 6 are welcome in this class.

1 vs. 1

There are a lot of 1vs1 situations in a game and there are different factors that determine the outcome.

Those factors consist of:
- Skill (ball control)
- Determination
- Confidence
- Anticipation

These factors are the same for the player with the ball (offense) as the player without the ball (defense).

What is taught in this Class:

The 1vs1 class teaches both sides of the ball and is therefore a great class for all positions. Offensively players will be taught to beat a defender in a 1vs1 situation. As an attacker you will face a defender from multiple angles. In that situation you need to be comfortable to challenge the defending player with the ball and pass him. Defensively players will be instructed to contain a player, force a player to his/her weak foot and/or a natural boundary. Body balance is a key part in defending, players will be taught not to “lunge” in and over commit.

Who Should do this Class:

This class is for players in all positions as offense and defense is played all over the field. Due to the resistance players will face during the training sessions players have to have a good skill level and knowledge of moves to protect the ball and moves to beat an opponent.

Ages: 10 to 14 or 3 or more years of Travel/Classes experience.

Power Shooting

Johan Cruijff said once: “If you don’t shoot, you will never score.” This sounds really easy but is also really true. The aim of soccer is to win the game. You can only win when you score more than the other team does. This makes shooting one of the most important parts of soccer. The Powershooting classes are created to teach players how to make a powerful but well aimed shot. A shot that can be used to score goals. This class will go through the 7 basics steps in striking the ball correctly with both feet. The player will be taught to understand and recognize mistakes they are making and properly correct them.

What is taught in this Class:

In each level the basic principle is the same, but the difficulty is different. In the Powershooting 1 class we are focusing on 7 basic steps. The mechanics of a powerful and accurate shot will be broken down during this class. After the Powershooting 1 class the player should be able to take a powerful shot and correct themselves when their shot is not powerful or accurate.

In the Powershooting 2 class we will use the same 7 basic steps. The shot the players learned to make in the Powershooting 1 class is the starting point for the Powershooting 2 class. In this class we are focusing on how to make a powerful and accurate shot when the ball is moving. How do you take your shot when the ball is rolling towards you? And what do you have to do when the ball is towards you from the side? In the Powershooting 2 class the players will learn to take a powerful and accurate shot in from any angle.

All Powershooting classes are focused on individual development.

Who should do this Class:

Most of the goals scored will be scored by forwards and midfielders, but that doesn’t mean the Powershooting class is only for players who mainly play in these positions. Because the technique of Powershooting is also used in passing the class is very good for the general development of every player. When a player mostly plays defense they still have opportunities to shoot and score in games. It doesn’t matter what level the player is playing. On every level you need to score to be able to win the game.

Because of the methodical way we developed the classes the players should have the skills taught in the previous class to proceed to the next class. The player could have learned these skills during the class or elsewhere.

Fast Footwork

When we ask a youth soccer player who their favorite soccer star most of them will answer Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s not a coincidence most people really like these players. Messi and Ronaldo are the 2 players with the best foot skills in the world. Both of them are always in control of the ball and have the ability to pass defenders using their skills (moves). The Fast Footwork classes are based on being in control of the ball and use skills (moves) to pass the defender. The basic skills of the best players in the world are the foundation of the Fast Footwork classes. The goal of learning these skills is to be comfortable with the ball and dominate the defender in a 1 versus 1 situation.

What is taught in this Class: In each level the basic principle is the same, but the difficulty is different. In the Fast Footwork 1 class we are focusing on using the moves without too much pressure. The pressure is the ball, the move and changing the direction. We start with learning different moves to change into different directions. We will teach the players moves to make a turn and go back, to go to the side and to pass a defender in a forward direction.

In the Fast Footwork 2 class we will add some more moves the curriculum. The added moves are more difficult than the moves learned in the Fast Footwork 1 class. We also increase the pressure. This will make it a lot harder for the players. They will have to step up their game and use everything they learned in the Fast Footwork 1 class to be able to learn the new things we teach them in the Fast Footwork 2 class. Moves to make a turn and go back, to go to the side and to pass a defender in a forward direction are also in this class. The key is to become more confident with the ball and learn how to dominate the defender in 1 versus 1 situations.

All Fast Footwork classes are focused on individual development.

Who should do this Class: In the Dutch philosophy every attack starts with the goalkeeper or at least a defender. We think building up from the back is better for the development of the players and much more fun for them. To be able to build up every players need to be comfortable with the ball. This is one of the things players will learn during the Fast Footwork Classes: Being comfortable with the ball. Every player on the field should be able to use a move to keep possession of the ball. In our philosophy every player should have the skills we teach in the Fast Footwork classes.

Because of the methodical way we developed the classes the players should have the skills taught in the previous class to proceed to the next class. The player could have learned these skills during the class or elsewhere. As a general outline we advise the following ages and playing experience for the Fast Footwork classes:

Fast Footwork 1 – Age 7 to 10 or 1 to 2 years of Travel/Classes experience
Fast Footwork 2 – Age 10 to 12 or 3 to 4 years of Travel/Classes experience

Because the class focuses on individual development a difference in age does not affect the learning experience in our classes.

High School

This class is available to both male and female High School players between
the ages of 14 and 18 years old who wish to improve their individual soccer
skills.

What is taught in the Class:

This class with focus on the necessary skills needed to devlop different
aspects of the game of soccer. Individual soccer development will be broken down
to two movement: with the ball and without the ball. During the 8-week class the
players will learn the necessary skills to master these two soccer
movements.

DTS Coaches will focus on mastering the ball, keeping ball possession, one
versus one defending and body positions with and without the ball.
